NJ Symphony Orchestra to Perform Free Outdoor Concert at Pier A – June 19, 7:30pm

Hoboken, NJ - Monday, June 16th, 2014

NJSO

Mayor Dawn Zimmer and the City of Hoboken proudly present the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, June 19th • 7:30pm at Pier A Park, First Street & Sinatra Drive, at the end of the Park on the big lawn. Admission is free. Bring a blanket or low back chair & a picnic basket.

Take a seat on the lawn of Pier A Park for a concert of light classics and popular favorites—with a patriotic flair. As night falls, the New York City skyline lights up and is reflected in the Hudson River, making this a very unique and romantic summer symphony concert destination.

The NJSO program honors New Jersey’s rich cultural past as part of the NJ350 celebration, honoring the Garden State’s 350th anniversary with a salute to Frank Sinatra, a medley of Jersey Boys classics and Count Basie’s “One O’Clock Jump.” In addition to its tradition of performing patriotic favorites, the NJSO looks ahead to the classical favorites of its 2014–15 season, performing selections from Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, Tchaikovsky’s “Pathétique” Symphony, Mozart’s Così fan tutte Overture and more.

(In case of light rain or a scattered shower, concert will be held at Pier A, but start may be delayed. In case of severe weather, concert will be moved indoors, location TBD.)
