Madison Street Park Rehabilitation

The City of Hoboken upgraded Madison Street Park in 2019, located at 3rd Street and Madison Street. Madison Street Park is the only park in the 3rd Ward and is used heavily by nearby residents. The purpose of the project was to upgrade old equipment and make better use of limited park space.

On January 7, 2018, Mayor Ravi Bhalla, County Executive Tom Degise and City officials officially broke ground on the Madison Street Park project.

“A major priority for my Administration is to continue with open space projects and upgrade our city parks, and I’m pleased that the Madison Street Park renovation will result in substantial quality of life improvements for local residents,” said Mayor Bhalla. “When completed, children in the surrounding area will have new playground equipment that provides for a safer place to play, learn and interact. Thank you to the many residents who provided critical feedback to make this project a reality.”

The improvements to Madison Street Park ensure that the site continues to meet the needs of the community. The park continues to service local children and families alike with new playground structures, new safety surface, spray park features, interactive musical equipment, and seating areas. The improvements to Madison Street Park accommodate the health, safety, and welfare of the community while giving local children a space to play, learn, interact, and imagine.

Hudson County awarded the City of Hoboken a $500,000 grant for improvements to the Madison Street Park Playground through the Hudson County Open Space Trust Fund.

The project began with the public process, following by a concept design approved by the City Council, and Construction.
