Mission Statement
The Hoboken Pride Advisory Committee’s mission is to promote inclusiveness for LGBTQIA+ members of the Hoboken community and all Hoboken residents, workers, and students. We further our mission by raising awareness, proposing solutions, fostering a culture of acceptance and affirmation of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities, and recommending and supporting community-building activities and outreach to promote equity and dignity and prevent discrimination and violence toward LGBTQIA+ individuals. We recognize that our LGBTQIA+ community is diverse in many ways, including with respect to race, ethnicity, cultural background, disability, socioeconomic status, religion, and age, and seek to always reflect and honor this diversity in our work. We celebrate the past, present, and future diversity of sexual and gender identities within the Hoboken community.
Vision Statement for the 2024-2025 Committee
As we implement the Committee’s mission in its first term, we are committed to advocating for policies and practices on behalf of the LGBTQIA+ community in a way that recognizes and addresses systemic inequalities. In our community-building activities, outreach, and education, we aim to prevent discrimination and violence against all people while celebrating the full spectrum of sexual orientations, gender identities, and other aspects of human diversity within the Hoboken community. We further strive to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their identities, have equitable access to opportunities, resources, and support systems in Hoboken.
The Committee was established by Executive Order in 2024 by Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla.
