The City of Hoboken provides residential tenants with access to a free consultation with the City’s Tenant Advocate from Sobel Han, LLP. The Tenant Advocate can provide legal information and guidance concerning landlord-tenant matters, including eviction notices, rent and lease disputes, security deposits, habitability concerns, and other tenancy-related issues.

The service is intended to help tenants understand their rights, evaluate their options, and identify appropriate next steps. Through their contract with the City, Sobel Han, LLP can provide guidance and connect residents with further resources, but cannot provide ongoing legal advice or legal representation.

Consultations are available by appointment to Hoboken residents who are residential tenants. To request an appointment, visit the online scheduling portal and provide a brief description of the issue in advance. Tenants should also be prepared to provide any relevant notices, leases, correspondence, or other documents.
