Today, the City of Hoboken announced that the Jan. 5 Hoboken City Council meeting will be held virtually via Zoom to better protect public health and limit the spread of COVID-19.
Last month, the City saw record-high increases in positive COVID-19 cases. From Dec. 1 through Dec. 31, a total of 1,599 residents tested positive, the largest one-month total since the pandemic began in March 2020. Since Dec. 20, nearly 50 municipal employees have tested positive for COVID-19 or had to quarantine following contact with an individual who tested positive. As such, all non-essential municipal employees are on a remote work schedule until Jan. 9.
Due to the recent increase of positive COVID-19 cases, no members of the public will be permitted to attend council meetings in person. Council meetings will continue to be broadcast and streamed live on the City’s Facebook page, YouTube channel, and via Zoom, as listed on the agenda.

The City will continue to monitor the ongoing pandemic and make decisions on upcoming council meetings with City Council leadership.
