Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla today announced the City of Hoboken launched a pre-registration process for seniors in Hoboken to receive a COVID-19 vaccine appointment. All Hoboken seniors 65 years of age and up are invited to register with the City of Hoboken at http://www.hobokennj.gov/seniors. Seniors will become eligible to receive the vaccine once the State of New Jersey moves into the next 1B and 1C phases of vaccinations. It has not been announced by the State if the 1B phase will include seniors ages 65 and up or restricted to 75 and up; however, the registration process will ensure the City of Hoboken and medical partners, including Riverside Medical Group and Hoboken University Medical Center, are able to begin scheduling vaccine appointments to seniors without a substantial delay.
“We want to make sure that when the day comes for our seniors to get vaccinated, we’re ready to efficiently schedule as many appointments as possible with our medical providers,” said Mayor Bhalla. “This process is the latest way we as a City are prioritizing the health of our most vulnerable populations, and I encourage all seniors or family and friends of seniors to pre-register online as soon as possible.”
All friends and family of Hoboken seniors are invited to fill out the pre-registration form if a senior cannot complete the form or does not have internet access. The form includes required fields of first name, last name, age, address and phone number.
Beginning Wednesday, January 13, seniors ages 75 and up will be able to call the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) hotline at 201-420-5621 (9 am - 2 pm, weekdays) to pre-register if internet access is unavailable. Seniors can also leave a voicemail with CERT at that phone number starting Wednesday by providing first name, last name, age, address and phone number to pre-register.
The Hoboken Office of Emergency Management, Hoboken Health Department and CERT will conduct door-to-door pre-registrations for seniors as well in the coming weeks.
The City of Hoboken has been working with Riverside Medical Group and Hoboken University Medical Center (HUMC) to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to healthcare workers, law enforcement and first responders in the 1A phase over the past two weeks. Currently, Riverside and HUMC are the two medical providers that have received shipments COVID-19 vaccines in the City of Hoboken.
