City of Hoboken announces 2024 Summer Fun programming

Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla invites residents to the Summer Fun 2024 program which includes the free Fitness in the Park series, family-friendly Concerts in the Park, and Movies Under the Stars, as well as new offerings including DanceFest Hoboken.

“I am thrilled to invite our residents to participate in these free Summer Fun offerings, to get just a taste of what the City and our local businesses, artists, and entertainers provide year-round,” said Mayor Bhalla. “Hoboken has some of the best outdoor summer offerings in the entire state thanks to our Cultural Affairs Division and our incredible outdoor public spaces, and I look forward to seeing you all in the parks this summer!”

Fitness in the Park kicks off on June 10, and once again, will offer a series of sample classes hosted by local fitness studios at parks throughout Hoboken. Classes will be held at:

  • Pier A Park on Mondays and Tuesdays from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • ResilienCity Park on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Southwest Resiliency Park on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Concerts in the Park series kicks off on June 6, at Sinatra Park, with the energetic musical stylings of Frankie Morales and the Mambo of the Times Orchestra. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes! Local favorite DJ Tait will keep the dance party going on June 13 and July 11, spinning House on the Hudson. Other exciting performances are scheduled for select Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at:

  • Southwest Park on Mondays:
    • Family Fun Nights from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    • Adult Nights from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Shipyard Park on Tuesdays from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Sinatra Park on Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • ResilienCity Park on Mondays and Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Movies under the Stars will be held on Wednesday nights starting June 12, with “A League of Their Own.” Movies will be shown at Pier A Park, ResilienCity Park, and the 7th and Jackson Resiliency Park. A screening of 2006’s “Friday Night Lights” will round out the series by celebrating the back-to-school season at Hoboken High School’s Taglieri Stadium. Other movies this year include “Barbie,” “Mamma Mia!,” “Top Gun” (the original), and more. Before the movie starts, win a prize for the best Ken and Barbie costume, or see if you have what it takes to be Top Gun on one of Hoboken High School’s flight simulators.

Movies will start at 9 p.m. in June and July and at 8:30 p.m. in August. Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic basket, and a blanket or low-back chair. Fun pre-screening activities start at 8 for certain screenings.
