City of Hoboken announces Ty Bereskie as Director of Infrastructure

Mayor Emily B. Jabbour today announced the appointment of Ty Bereskie as the City of Hoboken’s new Director of the Department of Infrastructure. Bereskie, who began today, will oversee infrastructure operations, capital planning, utilities, and other critical municipal services.

Bereskie brings over a decade of experience in municipal leadership, public works, utilities management, capital improvement planning, and organizational performance to the City. His appointment comes with a focus on strengthening service delivery, advancing infrastructure investments, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring that Hoboken’s infrastructure meets the needs of residents and businesses.

Most recently, Bereskie served as Assistant City Manager for the City of Evans, CO, where he oversaw operations across several core municipal departments. Previously, he served as Evans’ Public Works and Utilities Director, overseeing enterprise fund revenues, major capital improvement initiatives, and operational improvements across engineering, public works, parks, and utilities.

Bereskie also served as Deputy Director of Water Resources for the City of Greeley, CO, where he managed technical and operations teams, oversaw water resource planning, and helped advance major water infrastructure projects.

“Reliable infrastructure is essential to the quality of life our residents expect and deserve,” said Mayor Jabbour. “Ty brings a strong combination of technical expertise, municipal management experience, and a commitment to thoughtful, data-driven planning. His background in public works, utilities, and capital improvement projects will help us continue investing in Hoboken’s infrastructure while ensuring that our resources are managed responsibly, and our services meet the needs of our community. I also want to recognize and thank RJ Theofield for his leadership and continued service as he transitions into the Deputy Director role.”

As Director, Bereskie will draw on his experience in capital planning, financial stewardship, process improvement, and cross-departmental collaboration to support the City’s infrastructure goals.

“I’m excited to join Hoboken and contribute to a city that recognizes the importance of forward-looking infrastructure planning and high-quality municipal services,” said Bereskie. “Infrastructure leadership is more than managing projects and day-to-day operations. It means making thoughtful investments, improving processes, and ensuring that decisions made today support the community’s future needs. I look forward to working with Mayor Jabbour, the administration, RJ, and the Department of Infrastructure team to build on the City’s critical infrastructure work.”

Bereskie holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of British Columbia, an MBA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, an M.S. in Environmental Engineering Science from the Colorado School of Mines, and a B.S. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Vermont. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds Project Management Professional (PMP) and Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA) certifications.
