Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla today announced the activation of the City of Hoboken’s new, state-of-the-art security camera system in Church Square Park. The system, features up to 30 AI-powered cameras, offering comprehensive surveillance with real-time live feed capabilities. The cameras will be monitored by the Hoboken Police Department, enhancing public safety with faster response times and providing valuable investigative tools.
“The safety of our residents and visitors is our top priority, and these new security cameras will provide the Hoboken Police Department with an important tool to help deter and investigate criminal activity,” said Mayor Bhalla. “By enhancing security in our parks and integrating advanced technology, we are creating an even safer environment for everyone to enjoy our public spaces with greater peace of mind.”
“These cameras, which provide additional eyes on Church Square Park, and eventually on other public spaces, give HPD yet another tool to enhance our ability to protect the residents of Hoboken,” said Chief Steven Aguiar. “I’d like to express my thanks to the Mayor and City administration for their continued commitment to supporting HPD with vital technology and resources.”
The new camera system, paid for primarily through Hudson County’s Open Space Trust Fund, is a key part of a larger public safety improvement plan for Church Square Park, that also includes temporary and permanent lighting upgrades to increase visibility.
