Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla and Stevens Institute of Technology President Nariman Farvardin announced today that fully vaccinated Hoboken residents have been granted access to utilize four tennis courts at Stevens through August 22, 2021. Hoboken residents above the age of 18 will have access to the tennis courts on the northern end of the campus between the hours of 10:00 am and 8:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, and between 10 am and 6 pm, Friday through Sunday. The access to the tennis courts will be provided subject to proof of residency and vaccination confirmation.
“Thanks to Hoboken’s strong partnership with Stevens, our fully vaccinated residents will now have access during the summer to Stevens’ tennis courts,” said Mayor Bhalla. “This is another way Hoboken is providing additional recreation options for our residents, and I thank President Farvardin and his team for working with us to make this possible.”
Hoboken residents who would like to sign-up to utilize the tennis courts must first register at http://www.hobokennj.gov/stevenstennis, and provide contact information, government identification or utility bill indicating a Hoboken address, and proof of full vaccination. The form will be then processed by the City, with an approval email from the City required before picking up the required Stevens visitor ID card.
After receiving the approval email, the ID card can be picked up at the Schaefer Athletic Center's reception desk, Monday-Thursday between 10 am and 8:00 pm, and on Friday between 10 am and 6:00 pm. The reception desk at the Schaefer Athletic Center is located in the Stevens campus, in the main lobby of the building and can only be accessed through the front entrance.
Parking
Please note that no parking is available on campus for those individuals using the tennis courts.
Rules
All posted rules at the tennis facility must be followed. A one-hour time limit is in effect when the courts are full. Patrons may not prop open the door to the courts nor let other individuals into the courts. All tennis players must swipe in to the facility on their own. Anyone who is found in violation of these rules will lose court privileges for the remainder of the summer.
